Transportation Assistance Program
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
This transportation service is designed to assist Barnegat Residents with a limited means of transportation to attend non-emergency medical appointments or shopping within Barnegat and the Manahawkin area. Service may also include; visits to the library, post office, food pantry, town hall or other necessary appointments. Service is free to Barnegat Residents.
This bus is equipped with a lift for two (2) wheelchairs.
MONDAYS: Non emergency medical appointments and shopping 9am-3pm. TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS: Non-emergency medical appointments and Barnegat local stops 9:00am to 3:00pm. No Manahawkin shopping. WEDNESDAYS: Route 72 Manahawkin shopping only 9am-2pm, no medical appointments.

If Town Hall is closed for a holiday, service will be suspended.
There will be no service on the following holidays: January 1, 2008, January 21, 2008, February 18, 2008, May 26, 2008, September 1, 2008, October 13, 2008, November 11, 2008, November 27, 2008, December 25, 2008, and January 1, 2009.
SCHEDULING GUIDELINES
Curb to curb
transportation is provided. You MUST call for a reservation. Please call 609-698-0080, ext. 177
NO LATER THAN 12
NOON the business day prior to requested
service, and leave the following information on the answering service; name,
telephone number, address
of pick-up, destination address, appointment time and type of mobility device used if needed.
This is a recording service;
please do not hang up without leaving all of the above information.
Please remember this
is not an individual service and plan your appointments with plenty of time for
other passenger’s stops along the route.
PASSENGER RESPONSIBILITIES:

All passengers are
required to wear a seat belt.
·
No standees allowed.
·
All passengers are
responsible for carrying their own packages.
·
Packages can not
block the aisle, exits of the bus or take up seating space.
·
The driver, for no
reason is to enter private residences.
·
Assistance will be
provided by the driver to and from the front door of the residence upon
request.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PERSONS USING A
MOBILITY DEVICE:
·
When requesting
service, please be sure to indicate if you are using a mobility device, such as
a wheelchair or walker.
·
All passengers using
a mobility device MUST BE ON LEVEL GROUND ONLY OR HAVE A RAMP.
·
ALL WHEELCHAIRS WILL
BE TRANSPORTED ON LEVEL GROUND ONLY, NO GRAVEL, SAND, GRASS ETC.
·

We recommend that
all wheelchairs are in proper working order; they must be equipped with leg and
footrests and have working brakes.
·
Bus capacity is
limited to 2 wheelchair securement areas.
INCLEMENT WEATHER:
In the event of
inclement weather, service may be suspended accordingly
** For your
safety during the winter months, you must have your driveway and/or walkway
clear of snow & ice if you are requesting a pick up**
