 2010 Leaf Collection Schedule

ADOPT-A-STORM DRAIN PROGRAM

DUE TO NUMEROUS REQUESTS, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING 2010 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR RECYCLING & BRUSH PICKUP

If your TRASH pickup day falls on a holiday, it will be collected the following day and moving each route to the next day of the week in which the holiday falls:

The only 2010 holidays affecting your trash and recycling collection are:

MONDAY, MAY 31, 2010 - MEMORIAL DAY                                                                                   

    TRASH AND RECYCLING WILL BE PICKED UP TUESDAY, JUNE 1st

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2010 - LABOR DAY

    TRASH AND RECYCLING WILL BE PICKED UP ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2010 - THANKSGIVING DAY

      ROUTE #3 - TRASH AND RECYCLING WILL BE PICKED UP ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 26TH

     FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2010 - DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING

      ROUTE #4 - TRASH AND RECYCLING WILL BE PICKED UP ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH

 

WASTE MANAGEMENT will collect yard waste, grass clippings, vegetative waste, etc.

RECYCLE ITEMS (collected on your recycling day) are: Commingle items, Newspapers, Magazines, Junk Mail.

Commingled Items: The following items may be mixed in a solid container not larger than 32 gallons (NO BAGS PERMITTED).
     Empty aerosol cans; aluminum, tin and steel cans; clear green and brown glass; plastic beverage, detergent, shampoo and food containers with a neck narrower than the body. All items must be rinsed.
     DO NOT include motor oil or anti-freeze containers, tub-type containers such as margarine, peanut butter, windows, dishes, mirrors, light bulbs, or aluminum foil or aluminum foil pans.

Newspapers, corrugated cardboard, brown paper bags and mixed paper must be placed in a container no larger than 32 gallons with a lid and put out on your regular recycling/garbage day.
     Mixed Paper includes: Magazines, catalogs, color inserts, envelopes (with and without cellphane windows), junk mail, office paper (including copy paper and green bar paper), carbonless forms, pamphlets, brochures and advertisements.

Brush will be collected each Tuesday by appointment only. Bundles can be no larger than 4' in length. Please call not later than noon on Monday for Tuesday pick up, 609-698-0080 Ext. #120.

Trash, bulky Waste, Recycling, and Brush Collection Changes

The Township of Barnegat has entered into a contract with a private collection company for the collection of solid waste beginning October 5, 2004. The Township will continue to pick-up recycling, brush and leaves with minor changes to the schedule. The following pages provide important information regarding changes to garbage, bulk, and RECYCLING collection. Included in this packet is a collection schedule for future reference.

Household Trash and Bulky Waste Collection

Household trash must now be placed at the curb in cans no larger than 32 gallon and shall not exceed 75 pounds. There is no restriction on the number of cans used for TRASH pick-up.  The container must have a lid that is NOT permanently attached to the can for safety reasons.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Many Barnegat residents have purchased 32-gallon Rubbermaid containers.  If any resident has a problem with the wheel assembly of this container, they should call Rubbermaid Consumer Products Division directly at 888 895-2110

 

Bulky Waste as defined below will continue to be picked up on your trash collection day. Bulky waste shall be placed at the curb tied in bundles not exceeding four (4) feet long and 50 pounds. Large ITEMS such as entertainment centers, shelving etc. shall be broken down into easy to handle bundles. Scrap lumber shall be cut to four (4) feet lengths and tied in bundles not to exceed 50 pounds. Carpeting and carpet padding shall be cut and tied into bundles not to exceed four (4) feet long and 50 pounds. No more than 6 bundles of bulky waste or 5 large items shall be placed at curb side in any one pickup.


The following items shall be picked up by appointment only. Appointments may be made by contacting Waste Management Inc at 1-800-348-6161.

  • Washers, Dryers, Stoves, Bed Frames, and Miscellaneous Metals
  • Hot Water Heaters, Furnaces, and sheds upon verification by the Township that a building permit was issued for the replacement of these items. Items shall have a permit sticker on the item for pick up by Waste Management Inc.

The following items will be picked up only upon scheduling the pick up with the Clerk's Office and paying the appropriate fee.

  • Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioners, paid sticker must be attached to freon item before pick up by Waste Management Inc. Tires and Propane Tanks upon verification by the Township that the proper disposal fee has been paid will be picked up each Wednesday. Please come in by Tuesday to have any of these items picked up on Wednesday. 

Household Batteries can now be thrown in with regular trash. Ocean County has informed us they are no longer a recyclable item. 

Bulky Waste - Is household furniture, mattresses, box springs, scrap lumber or any large (non-metal) household items that do not fit into a regular 32 gallon trash receptacle. Items excluded from bulky waste are as follows: Washers, Dryers, Stoves, Bed Frames, Miscellaneous Metals, Hot Water Heaters, Furnaces, Sheds, Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioners, Tires and Propane Tanks. Excluded items shall be picked up by appointment.


Building debris resulting from home improvements is strictly prohibited. Additionally, contractor's debris or bulky wastes generated from businesses are strictly prohibited.


Description of Collection Routes

Route 1 - Town Route (all areas east of Route 9) including Pebble Beach, in addition to the following streets: Gunning River Road, Cherry St, Aphrodite Dr, Railroad Ave, Hillside Ave, Brook St., Memorial Dr, West Bay Ave (East of Barnegat Blvd), Burr St, and Burr St Extension, Molner Lane, and Pacific Avenue (off Gunning River Road), West Thorn Ave, Town & Country Estates, Blue Claw Estates and Holly Oaks and Old Main Shore Road, Route 9.

Route 2 - Brookville Manor, Rose Hill Estates (Vivas Dr), Rose Hill Manor, Timbers, Windward, Pine Ridge, Deer Chase, Montara, Heritage Bay, Allison Way, Jennifer Lane, Rose Hill Road, Cape May, Lincoln Avenue, Spruce Street

Route 3 - Settlers Landing, Deer Run, Liberty Glen, Barnegat Pointe, and Oak Hill II, Sterling Woods, Barnegat Crossing and Old Main Shore (off Georgetown Boulevard) and Freedom Hills

Route 4 - West Bay Avenue(West of Mirage Boulevard), Ocean Acres, Pheasant Run, Route 72 and Mirage, Heritage Point North and South, Horizons
